craft room update

Ok you guys. I'm starting to feel like I got myself in to a bigger project than I planned. Isn't that how it always goes? I've made good progress, I feel, however there is still SO much to do! Here's an update:

The 'to-do' list:
Move drums & music stands
Get rest of trash out
Remove carpet
Sweep/dust/scrub walls & floor
Clean window
Paint (floor too?)
Fix hole in ceiling
Come up with a solution for closet
Clean up northeast nook area

See? I can cross some stuff off the list... But let's address something. Mildew and mold is ev-er-y-where. Like behind the nook in the last photo above. Look what I found:

Yes. I know. How could I let this happen. Well, I didn't. But that doesn't matter. It's gross. And I will not even be trying to get rid of that with bleach and Kilz. I WILL be cutting out that part of the wall and replacing it with nice, new, clean sheetrock. Yay! I guess that's another thing to add to the to-do list.

Off to do more work. Happy Mold-cleanup Monday!

It's happening.

I've finally become a bit inspired. As opposed to doing it because it just needs to be done. Or has to be done, even. I've been reading iheartorganizing blog- it's amazing and you should definitely check it out! And I'm become inspired. Today I will show you the must-re-do craft room. In fact, it's yet to be a craft room. It used to be an office, and then became a mini swimming pool after a lot of rain one summer. Never been anything since... (no judging, please).

The official BEFORE:

Move drums & music stands
Get rest of trash out
Remove carpet
Sweep/dust/scrub walls & floor
Clean window

I better get a move on, right? Happy Saturday to you, and happy cleaning slash organizing to me!

a little tlc

Matthew (the hubby) was gone all of last week in Colorado for some school stuff. I had to stay behind for work, with no more days off for the year, and decided I would surprise him with a little re-do. You see, Matt and his dad spent a lot of time adding on a 3-seasons porch to the back of our house when Matt purchased it (long before I came along). The porch is amazing! It's mostly windows- which I LOVE. And just has a great "come-out-on-the-porch-and-drink-iced-beverages" kinda feel to it. So, the porch was my re-do. It was already painted a happy pale yellow and ready to be decorated. However, for as long as I've known Matt, it's never really been used for much besides storage. And a storage unit it for sure became right before our wedding, when I started moving all my stuff here. This is what it looked like:
See? Not a very "come-out-on-the-porch-and-drink-iced-beverages" feel. It just needed a little tlc. And some Murphy's Oil Soap and hot water. Lots of hot water. And sweeping and mopping times a million. (which my momma is real good at.. she came and helped) And here is the finished product:
Isn't she a beaut? The greatest thing? We already had everything needed to make it look gooood. A few bucks for some pretty flowers and herbs, and that was that. I love it! And so did Matt :) Here are some close-ups!
I've got a 5-day weekend... it's very possible I'm going to find another re-do for myself. And I'm so excited about that! Happy Easter, lovelies!

Projects gallore... and more to come!

Ah! It's taken me close to forever to get these pictures up. I never forgot... but I lost my camera when I moved back to South Dakota from Hawaii :( I had to borrow my mom's. So that is my excuse. And here are the pictures of the so-fun-to-do project...

And the latest in my household news. I shall be moving, once again, to a new location. More space, less money. No complaining... But I will miss my humble abode dearly. Oh, don't worry. I will be blogging about this upcoming move... it's going to be epic... and one HUGE project! Bring it on!

I heart Projects

Tonight I have intentions of gathering supplies, setting myself down in front of the TV(yay for cable!!) and getting to work on my latest project idea.

You see, my very own La Prima is coming to visit for my birthday!! (Insert major excitement and lots of random squealing here) We share o-so-many tastes in decor, fashion, and life, that my house must be in tip-top shape for her first ever sighting.

My idea, for those of you who would like to know, has been inspired by Real Simple- my favorite magazine! It contains mustard yellow lace, mix-matched frames, pictures that tell stories, lots of colorful spray paint, and double sided sticky tape.

Bring it on!
(oh, and don't worry. I'll post pictures when it's complete!)
